Congratulations, Aaron Josh Juliano and Isabella Andres for being voted Most Elegant, and Steven Domingo of Bailes de Jose dancer earned the Barong Shirt award.
Congratulations, Jean Shirvend Yacapin (hopefully, the judges writing was clear enough) on having the Most Beautiful Terno. Yvette Amshoff finished second place in the terno judging with Mayette Loseto getting third place honors.
Previous Kauai Filipino Community Council president and Miss Kauai Filipina chair Charlmaine arranged to have the new Miss Kauai Filipina Aleah Yano installed by Miss Hawaii Filipina Jaslen Valdez (she came home special from Arizona to do this) so Aleah could perform the invocation so everyone could start eating.
The hula competition events of the Kauai Mokihana Festival takes place Friday and Saturday at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. The hula starts in the evening, but the craft fair component opens from 10 a.m. with a variety of vendor offerings and food.
The Shops at Kukuiula offers a special Olukai Pau Hana Sip-N-Shop in line with the Kauai Culinary Market next Wednesday (what? It’s already October!) from 3 to 6 p.m. Shoppers get a free gift with a purchase.
The event previews the October excitement that includes The Great Pumpkin Giveaway (one per person) on Oct. 18, and the free Ohana Movie Night with Despicable Me4.
Harvey Maeda and the Kauai Classic Cars Club return with Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 25.
