Climate change
At the 26th annual Governor’s Luncheon on Kauai hosted by Kauai’s Chamber of Commerce, Governor Josh Green said: “If we don’t have some kind of ability to deal with the impact of climate, we will see this (the Maui fires) again,”
The governor is correct, and a key part of the ability to deal with climate means becoming more independent from imports of energy and food.
Climate change is and will continue to cause global disruptions whether it’s drought that lead to no passage of the Suez canal for a period of time or hurricanes or something else.
Becoming energy independent means reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and implementing policies that help the state move in this direction.
We cannot wait and need such policies now!
