LIHUE — Waimea High School boys and girls air riflery teams swept the Island School teams, and Kauai High School boys and girls air riflery teams swept the Kapaa High School teams on during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation matches on Saturday.
The Menehune faced Island School teams that did not field the required number of sharpshooters to qualify for team scoring at the Voyager range.
Waimea boys finished with 1,218 points led by the high pointing of Fredy Padamada, who finished with 263 points. Rochelle Uri led the Menehune wahine team with 256 points.
Over at the Kauai High School range, the host Red Raider boys posted a 1,268-1,150 showing over the Kapaa boys. Kauai’s Jacob Andres topped all of the shooters with 283 points to set the pace.
On the girls range, the Kauai girls outpointed Kapaa, 1,192-1,099 behind the high point from Caylee Garma, who finished with 242 points, just a pair of marks ahead of fellow Red Raider Fancy Butac-Sagucio, and just a point better than Kapaa’s Christy Heath who marked a 241.
The next KIF air rifle matches will be held at the Island School range and the Kauai High School range. Kauai High School will visit the Voyagers at Island School, and Waimea will meet Kapaa at the Red Raider facility. Matches at both sites start at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
