KILAUEA — The North Shore community will host its second meeting for the Kilauea Town Expansion Project.
The County of Kaua‘i Housing Agency set the meeting for the expansion project at Anaina Hou Community Park in Kilauea on Thursday, Oct. 17. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m.
The meeting will provide another chance for people who were unable to attend the first gathering to view preliminary concept site layouts, review, summarize, discuss and receive up-to-date progress on the work currently in motion.
The community is highly urged to participate and provide feedback to help shape the future of the proposed expansion of Kilauea Town.
Currently, the Kolo Road mini-roundabout construction is underway at the intersection of Kilauea Road and Kolo Road with plans for widening the existing crosswalk, along with two additional crosswalks that will be painted and paved along Kolo Road.
A second mini-roundabout will also be constructed in front of Ala Namahana Highway at the intersection of Keneke Street and Kilauea Road, with the entire strip of Kilauea Road reaching the Kilauea Point Lookout to be lined along with new sidewalks. Additionally, the road that stretches to Kilauea Point Overlook will require a two-week closure.
Progress also continues at the new affordable housing and resident-oriented housing complex with some initial work having been finished along with progress on the new Namahana School.
Residents interested in further information or interested in attending the second meeting can visit kauai.gov/ourkilauea to RSVP. For additional questions, email ourkilauea@kauai.gov.
