First responders and residents honored for heroics

Surf instructor Chava Greenlee, and body boarders Keliimoanakahi Javiar, Talon Morales and Xaenyn Yamamoto were honored and recognized for their heroic actions during a lifesaving rescue at Brennecke’s Beach on July 14, 2024. They were honored by the Fire Commission and Kauai Fire Department, including the Ocean Safety Bureau.

Available multi-agency representatives, including Firefighter I Paul Haraguchi, OSO II Dustin Williams, OSO II Josh Lindstedt, OSO II Kanstanstin “Dash” Dashkevich and OSO II Kesava Davis were recognized for their heroic actions during a lifesaving ocean rescue at the Hanalei Pier. They were honored by the Fire Commission and Kauai Fire Department, including the Ocean Safety Bureau, on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024.

LIHUE — The Fire Commission, during its regular meeting on Tuesday, joined the Kauai Fire Department, including the Ocean Safety Bureau, in recognizing two groups of individuals — heroic residents and first responders — for their respective involvement in two lifesaving rescues at two different sites.
