Mango jam, Mango jelly, Guava jelly using guava from Jack Gushiken’s guava starters, and two different types of ulu chips. Kauai High School Future Farmers of America member Madden Labrador-Hardesty had it all on Saturday when the Kauai High School FFA appeared at the Grove Farm Market (the craft fair component takes place on the first Saturday in October!) as a fundraiser. Christina Martiney, the FFA advisor, said the group is still attempting to raise funds to send the school’s FFA to the national convention on the mainland.

She said the newly-unveiled products may appear on Monday during the Pau Hana Market that starts at 3:30 p.m. at Kukui Grove where the FFA kids do shave ice using fresh fruit from Amy Chun, and the fresh egg offerings from the school farm’s chickens (and ducks).
Meanwhile, the Kauai High School Key Club was out in force doing a fundraiser of freshly baked cookies and advance of their Krispy Kreme donuts at the craft fair component of the Line Dance fundraiser for the Kauai Veterans Center…that flash mob appearance during lunch was the bomb!
More Kauai High School innovations appeared with the debut showing of Cheesesteak Sammy’s (Mr. Charles Fulks said all the promotional items, including the booth sign was done by the school’s students) at The Grove Farm Market (Isaiah Dosono was getting early orders for his oven-baked pizza that sold out during last week’s debut).
Sammy’s is Sam Brown (whom Mr. Fulks said teaches physical education at Kauai High School) who was busy trying to field orders (was nice to see retired Kauai Community College chancellor Joseph Daisy) while trying to get the grills to optimum cooking temperatures.
They should be back at this week’s Grove Farm Market with the Kauai Kim Chee pizza.
