David ‘Kawika’ Cole
August 20, 1954 — December 31, 2023
David “Kawika” Cole, born on Aug. 20, 1954, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2023, at sunset, surrounded by his loving family.
David graduated from Kapa‘a High School in 1972 and worked as an elevator inspector for NAVFAC for 30 years, retiring in Sept. 2021.
During his career, he worked overseas in Italy and Japan, sharing those experiences with his family.
David is survived by his beloved wife Debbie Cole, his children Joshua Cole, Nathan Cole, Dayna Cole Wong, Kainalu Cole, along with his four adored grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Cyrila, Anthony, Marilyn, Twila, Twayne, Twanda, Ron, and Mike.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024:
Dawn Patrol Ash Scatter at Hanalei Bay, 6:30 a.m. – Please join for a sharing/prayer and paddle out. Those wishing to paddle out are kindly asked to bring their own boards or means of getting into the ocean. Loose flowers are welcome.
Celebration of Life Service, Kaua‘i Christian Academy, 4000 Kilauea Rd, Kilauea, Hawai‘i – Visitation will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 2:30 p.m. Bentos will be served following the service. Flowers and monetary gifts are welcome.

Wayne Ajimura
Wayne Ajimura, of Hanapepe, passed away on Sept. 8, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on Sept. 26, 1947, in Lihue. He retired from the U.S. Army and was a self-proprietor.
He was preceded in death by father Masaichi Ajimura, daughter Sharon Ajimura, sisters Vickie Ajimura, Shelly Kabat and brother Alvin Ajimura.
He is survived by daughters Janel Ajimura of Hawaii Island, Mackenzie Ajimura of Lanai, grandchildren Justin Paaaina, Jaylin Paaaina, mother Yuriko Ajimura of Hanapepe, brother Clyde Ajimura of Hanapepe, sisters Lynn Viquelia of Mission Viejo, California, Mary Ajimura of Garden, California, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be announced at a later date.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gary Yoshio Gushiken
Gary Yoshio Gushiken passed away on Aug. 24, 2024, in Wailua at the age of 50. He was born on Jan. 24, 1974, in Lihue. He was a meat wrapper at Costco.
He was preceded in death by father Stephen Gushiken, maternal grandparents Mitsue and Shime Yamakawa, paternal grandparents Isamu and Shizuko Gushiken.
He is survived by wife Marilyn Gushiken, mother Lynn (Vernon) Gushiken Fu, mother-in-law Carmen Acain, sons Garret Cadiente-Gushiken, Brandon (Sigrid) Fernandez, Tyrus Viquelia, daughters Makaylyn Gushiken, Brandilyn Viquelia, Tyralyn (William IV) Peralta, sister Liana Gushiken, two grandchildren, numerous uncles, aunties, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at The Church at Koloa, 3269 Poipu Road, Koloa, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m.

William Allianic Sr.
William Allianic Sr., of Makaweli, passed away on Aug. 7, 2024, in Makaweli at the age of 94. He was born on Jan. 6, 1930, in Waimea. He was an irrigation operator.
He was preceded in death by parents Dorotio and Margaret Allianic, wives Jean Allianic, Sylvia Allianic, brother Benjamin Allianic, sister Lillian Labrador and daughter-in-law Ruth Hansen Allianic.

A service will be held on Sept. 20, 2024, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation is from 4 to 5:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 5:45 p.m.

Sandra Mae Villanueva
Sandra Mae Villanueva, 67, of Hanamaulu, passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on Aug. 23, 2024. She was born in Lihue, Kauai, on May 22, 1957, and was a loving daughter and sister.
Preceded in death by her father Alfredo Villanueva.
She is survived by her mother Leonora “Nora” Villanueva, brother Alfred Villanueva, niece Mikayla Pacheco-Villanueva, numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.
