David ‘Kawika’ Cole
August 20, 1954 — December 31, 2023
David “Kawika” Cole, born on Aug. 20, 1954, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2023, at sunset, surrounded by his loving family.
David graduated from Kapa‘a High School in 1972 and worked as an elevator inspector for NAVFAC for 30 years, retiring in Sept. 2021. During his career, he worked overseas in Italy and Japan, sharing those experiences with his family.
David is survived by his beloved wife Debbie Cole, his children Joshua Cole, Nathan Cole, Dayna Cole Wong, Kainalu Cole, along with his four adored grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Cyrila, Anthony, Marilyn, Twila, Twayne, Twanda, Ron and Mike.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024:
Dawn Patrol Ash Scatter at Hanalei Bay, 6:30 a.m. – Please join for a sharing/prayer and paddle out. Those wishing to paddle out are kindly asked to bring their own boards or means of getting into the ocean. Loose flowers are welcome.
Celebration of Life Service, Kaua‘i Christian Academy, 4000 Kilauea Rd, Kilauea, Hawai‘i – Visitation will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 2:30 p.m. Bentos will be served following the service. Flowers and monetary gifts are welcome.

William Allianic Sr.
William Allianic Sr., of Makaweli, passed away on Aug. 7, 2024, in Makaweli at the age of 94. He was born on Jan. 6, 1930, in Waimea. He was an irrigation operator.
He was preceded in death by parents Dototio and Margaret Alliance, wives Jean Alliance, Sylvia Allianic, brother Benjamin Allianic, sister Lillian Labrador and daughter-in-law Ruth Hansen Allianic.
He is survived by sons William Allianic Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Wayne (Liz) Allianic Sr. of Lawai, Eric Allianic Sr. of Kalaheo, Gerald Allianic of Makaweli, John Mahi of Kapaa, daughters Pat (Bully) Almeida of Koloa, Genevieve “Chico” Allianic of Makaweli, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, brother Eddie (Sandy) Allianic of Camano Island, Washington, sisters Connie (Merv) Bacarro of Lihue, Rose (Herman) Peleras of Mililani Town, Carmen Nordmeier of Waimea, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Sept. 20, 2024, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at 5:45 p.m.

Joaquin Nicholas Arruda Jr.
Joaquin Nicholas Arruda Jr., of Kekaha, passed away on Sept. 2, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on Dec. 6, 1932, in Waimea, Kauai. He worked as a building maintenance supervisor for the federal government.
He was preceded in death by wife Leilani J. Arruda, parents Joaquin and Lucy Arruda Sr., daughter Roxanne Arruda and granddaughter Trinette Vegas.
He is survived by sons Joaquin Nicholas (Arlene) Arruda III of Kauai, Richard (Sandra) Arruda of Kauai, David (Glenda) Arruda of Kauai, daughter Sandra (Sam) Vegas of Maui, 21 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., celebration of life at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Cole Akio Forsen
Beloved son, Cole Akio Forsen, age 42, of Wailua, Kauai, passed away in Portland, Oregon, on July 30, 2024. Born on Aug. 1, 1981, in Lihue, Kauai.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Takashi and Fusae Fujimoto, Carl and Hazel Forsen.
Survived by mother Denise, daughter Rian, brothers Cale (Lauren, Gaia-Grace, Bailey), Kai (Ehukai), Darin (Christine, Kai, Ava), uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, hanai uncle Doug of Portland, hanai Kaluahine ohana of Anahola who brought him joy.
A service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at Lihue Hongwanji Mission in Kapaia. Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m.
Rose ‘Loke’ Pua Nani Low
Rose “Loke” Pua Nani Low, of Anahola, passed away on Sept. 2, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Sept. 16, 1946, and worked as an Escrow Officer for several Escrow companies in Hawaii.
She was preceded in passing by daughter Deborah Johnson, parents Henry and Clarissa Mahi, siblings Don and Gayle.
Loke is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Nathan “Tim” Low, son Rudi “Keone” Johnson, sibling Henry (Nancy) Mahi, four grandchildren, and one great- grandchild.
Private services will be held by the family.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Walter Leroy ‘Āpana
Walter Leroy ‘Āpana, of Anahola, Kaua‘i, passed away on Aug. 15, 2024, at the age of 72. He was a construction laborer, hunter, and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by parents John and Gisela ‘Āpana.
He is survived by wife Carol Hāli‘imaile ‘Āpana, son Walter Kua‘āina (Sunny Jo) ‘Āpana, daughters Jasmine Kamāla ‘Āpana (Dennis) Morales, Janell Kamaile (Pradeep) Chand, LaVerne Kalehua (Pono) ‘Āpana, Michelle ‘Ilima ‘Āpana (Dillon) Hose, Roxanne Kalei‘awapuhi (Aaron) Carvalho, brothers Dennis ‘Āpana, Duane ‘Āpana, 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at the Anahola Clubhouse. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by service.
