LIHUE — Artist Keith Orell needed an Artist’s Name on Saturday, the Artists’ Entry Day for the Art Kauai 2024, at the Kauai Society of Artists gallery at Kukui Grove Center.
“KEO,” Orell said. “That’s my artist’s name. This is the first time I’m entering a show, and they said I needed an artist’s name.”
Orell had three pieces for consideration in the Art Kauai 2024 exhibit that opens with an artists’ reception on Friday evening at the KSA gallery.
“There are a lot of new art,” said Shannon Hiramoto who was working with the KSA Receiving Committee volunteers. “KSA also have a lot of new members who will be showing for the first time.”
Prior to the exhibit opening, KSA will host the show’s Juror, Noe Tanigawa for a Juror’s talk on Thursday, starting at 6 p.m. at a location in Kukui Grove shopping center. Described as an artist, retired from Hawaii Public Radio as a journalist for culture and the arts, Tanigawa will be available in person during the Thursday talk with notes on the exhibit that is scheduled to open daily through Oct. 25.
The Art Kauai 2024 is open daily from noon to 6 p.m., and special Friday hours are from noon to 7 p.m.
