LIHUE — A boatload of road improvement projects are scheduled in the waning days of summer on Kauai, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
The following is a list of projects for the workweek ending Sept. 13. All work is weather permitting.
Eleele
A single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for sewer line installation, between mile post 15.75 to 16.21, in the vicinity of Halewili Road and Hanapepe Road, on Monday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 13 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
A right shoulder closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in the westbound direction to rewire the intersection, between mile post 15.75 to 16.21, in the vicinity of Halewili Road and Hanapepe Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hanamaulu
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for grass cutting along banks and guardrails, between mile post 2 to 3, in the vicinity of Hanamaulu Road and Kauai Beach Drive, on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 2 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Kalaheo
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for grass cutting and shoulder clearing, between mile post 11 to 12, in the vicinity of Lauoho Road, on Monday, Sept. 9, Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Friday, Sept. 13, from 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 0 to 0.2, in the vicinity of Kaumualii Highway, on Wednesday, Sept. 11, through the morning of Thursday, Sept. 12, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 0.07 to 3.87, in the vicinity of Kaumualii Highway, on Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kalihiwai
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for cold planing and repaving, in the vicinity of Kahiliholo Road and Ka Haku Road, through Friday Sept. 13, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kapaa
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for asphalt reconstruction and resurfacing, between mile post 8.1 and 9.7, in the vicinity of Akia Road and Mailihuna Road through Friday Sept. 13, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
A full closure of Kapaa Bypass Road (Route 5600) is possible in the one-way southbound leg for road repair, between mile post 0 to .73, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Olohena Road on Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday, Sept. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kekaha
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for replacement of culverts, between mile post 24.37 to 24.46, in the vicinity of Kikiaola Boat Harbor, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Kilauea
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for cutting grass along banks and guardrails, between mile post 23 to 26, in the vicinity of Kuawa Road and the Princeville Airport, on Monday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kokee
A single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for road widening and paving, between mile post 11.5 and 14, on Sunday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 13, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Koloa
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 5.1 to 5.3, in the vicinity of Kahili Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 10, through the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Lihue
A right lane closure on Rice Street (Route 51) is possible in the northbound direction for slope stabilization, between Hoolaulea Way and Mokoi Street, in the vicinity of the Royal Sonesta driveway entrance on Monday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for striping and sign installation, in the vicinity of Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, on Monday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 13, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for striping, between mile post 2.59 and 3.19, in the vicinity of Kapule Highway and Kauai Beach Road through Friday, Sept. 13, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in the southbound direction for cutting grass along banks and guardrails, between mile post 4.62 to 4.65 in the vicinity of Wailua Golf Course, on Monday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Nawiliwili
A right lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 58) is possible in either direction for tree trimming, between mile post 0.81 and 0.67, in the vicinity of Wilcox Road and Lala Road, on Monday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for drain line and storm manhole installation, between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, through Friday, Sept. 13, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Full closure from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Puhi
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 3.5 to 4.5, on Monday, Sept. 9, through the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Wailua
A right lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) is possible in the westbound direction for installation of curb under guardrail, between mile post 0 to 0.2, in the vicinity of Wailua Road and Ohana Street, on Monday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
