The Showtime Characters dedicated the August Toddler Tuesday program to Georgia with appearances of Lilo and Stitch. Mickey (Brenda Biehler Turville said those were Georgia’s favorite characters) … and she never got to see the trio of mermaids that showed up for the Kukui Grove Movie Night.

Kudos and congratulations to the East Kauai Lions Club that gathered on Wednesday (Ron Wiley said it was Lion Janice Bond’s birthday and Lion Felicia Cowden was at the council meeting where the council honored Peleke Flores for being the recipient of the national National Education Association award) at King Kaumualii Elementary School.
Lion Harvey Kinoshita said the 50 boxes that weighed in at close to 100 pounds apiece contained used books from the elementary school libraries, school supplies and used eyeglasses collected throughout the year, and especially during the Sight is Beautiful collection. The boxes are being shipped to the Lions Sister Club, the Baguio City Lions Club in the Philippines (Lion Steve Fujii said it costs a lot of money to get there).
Steve just got back from Oahu where he and Sylvia took in the Okinawa Festival to check out the bonsai that was available. He said he didn’t realize he could walk to the festival from their hotel or he wouldn’t have rented a car that took two hours before it was ready.
