Dr. Monty Downs hasn’t figured out whether he’s bringing the guitar or the harmonica (or both?), but said he’ll be entertaining at the Lihue United Church annual Labor Day Breakfast, whether they have sound or not.

Breakfast runs from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Lihue Parish Hall. There are tickets at the door.
Kudos to Brenda Turville Biehler of the Showtime Characters for having the trio of mermaids out on Saturday (the AC in the recently-vacated GNC space was perfect for dealing with the muggy conditions!) to tie in with Movie Night at Kukui Grove Center.
Melissa McFerrin Warrack said the Little Babes were doing face masks (mermaids, of course), and Rocky Pascua was doing her face painting magic in front of Ainofea to go along with the popcorn and snack vendor.
Brenda was doing balloon sculptures and reminded people that Toddler Tuesday takes place on Sept. 3 starting at 11 a.m. at the Kukui Grove food court stage.
Congratulations to Commodore Larry Richardson, Kauai Police Department Assistant Chief Mark Ozaki (he said he’s not “Deputy,” yet) on the 15th anniversary of the Sea Scouts (guests had to deal with the high tide getting to the Decisive trawler that was decked out in flags and pennants) … no, the Hokulea had already left for Haleiwa, and the Norwegian Cruise Lines Pride of America sounded its departure horn at the right time during the congratulatory speeches.
OK, time to check out the latest at the Pau Hana Market (plants don’t know it’s the Labor Day weekend).
