POIPU — Just one point separated the All Around Cowgirl, Hallie Cristobal, from the Reserve All Around Cowgirl, Kiara Ruiz at the Kauai All Girl Rodeo Association event at CJM Country Stables on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Ruiz piled up points in Barrel Racing after finishing in the 2nd D while Cristobal settled for the 3rd D.
Cristobal reversed the trend in Pole Bending after finishing tops in the event on a 19.547-second run, and Ruiz settled for a finish in the 2nd D.
Ruiz topped the Goat Tying event, and pocketed a third place finish in the Breakaway. Cristobal was not entered in any of those events, but instead picked up finishes in the Dally Team Roping, where she teamed with Hunter Akita, Sandra Akita and Coralyn Murayama.
The next scheduled Kauai All Girl Rodeo Association event is Sept. 15 when the Grand Entry opens up the competition starting at 10 a.m. at the CJM Country Stables in Poipu.
There is no charge for entry. Food trucks will be available to whet appetites.
