With 2:47 remaining on the game clock, according to ScoringLive.com, Chance Kawakami split the uprights on a point after attempt (PAT) boot for the icing in the 13-7 loss.
Baldwin broke the 0-0 deadlock in the second quarter when Jordan Carbonell triggered the scoreboard on a 2-yard scoring charge. Kilikopela Kamakeeaina did the PAT boot with 7:44 showing in the break.
Tyler Antonio, with less than a minute showing in the first half, tapped pay dirt on a 3-yard charge for the 13-0 lead at the half.
This was Kaua‘i High’s second loss of the fledgling gridiron season after dropping a 14-13 heartbreaker to visiting Viewpoint School on Aug. 16.
Following the 13-7 Kaua‘i loss, the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation wraps up its football preseason this weekend when Kapa‘a High School, earlier suffering a 35-12 loss against the Farrington Governors on Aug. 10, will host Kapolei High School on Saturday with a single contest at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
Waimea High School, earlier marking a 14-7 win over visiting King Kekaulike on Aug. 17, will be winging over to Kahuku High School for a single contest starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The first KIF season contest will take place on Sept. 7 at Hanapepe Stadium when Waimea will host Kaua‘i High School. The Junior Varsity contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. kickoff with the varsity contest starting 30 minutes following the completion of the JV contest.
