Jean Souza of the Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery said it will be open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon (normally, it’s closed on Monday and Tuesday, and open Wednesday from 2 p.m.).
The change this week is to accommodate school visits to the Hokule‘a where the involved schools will have three stations to visit … the Hokule‘a where the students can enjoy the Hawaiian sailing canoe and an additional activity station; the KOD where there will be several educational stations; and the Kaua‘i Sailing Association.
Congratulations to Krystil Apeles of the Alakoko Store (she was helping at the Kaupena Concert with Shannon Hiramoto of Machine Machine) and Kalani Vierra for taking the Tandem competition — they’ve won several top honors during the 10 years they’ve participated — at the Duke’s Waterfest, last week. Krystil said Kalani also took the Legends competition, too.
Laurie Yoshida (she was busy with Lesah Merritt at the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Food Day Drive at the Safeway store in Hokulei Village!) said the Kaupena Concert (who had to have lunch at Burger King because Kaupena was lunching at Hamura’s Saimin?) will be sharing with some of the many groups volunteering at the concert … Darnel Sugioka had to find a blue-and-white shirt for Waimea High School … and the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i was split up to help, everywhere.
