Corazon Ubi Coma, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Aug. 12, 2024, at the Garden Isle Rehab & Nursing at the age of 96. She was born on Nov. 25, 1927, in the Philippines. She was a cook.
She was preceded in death by husband Victorino Coma, son Romie Coma, daughter Josie Coma, parents Fructoso and Genoveva Ubi, sisters Esmenia Alcantara, Tomasita Amistad, Lolita Real, Monica Abalos, Melchora Ubi and Leonida Bagay.
She is survived by sons Nolie Coma of Lihu‘e, Melari (Carol) Coma of Lihu‘e, Teymie (Grace) Coma of Lihu‘e, Bengie (Agnes) Coma of ‘Ele‘ele, daughters Leilanie (Edgar) Valenciano of Lihu‘e, Emie (Larry) Tanimoto of Lihu‘e, Betie (Damien Tolentino) Coma of Kapolei, grandchildren Mark Allan (Khey) Coma, Darwin (Martian) Coma, Geraldine (Jhunel) Opido, Hazen (Richard) Layaoen, Ritchelle (Madelyn) Coma, RJ Coma, Kristen (Eisen) Clemente, A-Jay Coma, Lindon Valenciano, Lexine Valenciano, Elson Tanimoto, Elshae (Cameron) Largusa, Bethany Coma, Abie Coma, great-grandchildren Kayzen Coma, Mark Coma, Klark Coma, Akisha Coma, Kurt Coma, Yllana Coma, Ritzmone Coma, Aesya Coma, Avrille Amira Coma, Avrille Racquel Coma, Kenzie Clemente, Kobie Coma, Lokahi Ana, Kleon Clemente, Maddox Barsatan, Lenley Largusa, sisters Florcefida Bul Lalayao of California, Adoracion Ragadi of the Philippines and Medelina Espinosa of the Philippines.
A service will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation is from 9 to 10:45 a.m., a celebration of life at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park Cemetery in Lihu‘e. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jeni Elizabeth Hardy

Jeni Elizabeth Hardy, born in Orange, California, passed away on Kaua‘i. After years of bravely fighting various forms of cancer, Jeni died peacefully in her sleep. She was preceded in death by her parents Jayne and Jim Hardy of Princeville.
She attended San Gabriel High School in Southern California, was an accomplished student as well as a Cape Girl for the Matadors. After attending East Los Angeles College, she became a post office employee. She held various positions in different offices in Southern California. She transferred to Princeville and Hanalei, Kaua‘i. She continued to work until retirement and then went to work at her church in Princeville.
The love of her life was sewing and quilting. She organized various quilting clubs and spearheaded numerous exhibitions on Kaua‘i. As a gifted artist, she attended national conventions and won the prestigious Hoffman Challenge. She created quilts and donated them to Habitat for Humanity, the Women’s Shelter in Lihu‘e, The Humane Society of Kaua‘i and Wilcox Hospital Cancer Ward.
She was a dedicated animal lover with many cats since childhood including Inky, Trixie, Squeeker, Emmie, Junior and Bobo. Her beloved Golden Retriever, Oso, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister Jana Hardy, cousins Becky Hardy, Mike Hardy, Karen Ashford, Debbie Ogorek and countless friends in her quilting family on Kaua‘i, on the mainland and all over the world.
Donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity or The Humane Society.
Fergus (Fergie) Stanley Macomber

Fergus (Fergie) Stanley Macomber, of Kalaheo, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on Aug. 15, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born on Aug. 10, 1942, in San Diego, California, and spent his adult life on Kaua‘i as a general contactor, ocean lover, lifelong surfer and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a 2nd degree black belt in Kajukenbo. Ferg was a good, kind friend, generous, gentle and loved by so many.
He is survived by his loving partner Lynn Black, sons Orion Macomber (Talia Smith), Peter (Andra) Macomber, daughter Jennifer Macomber, grandchildren William, Francesca, brother Philip (Robin) Macomber, sisters Janet (John) Peterson, Cyndi Potts, nephews Chad, Corey, Sean, Travis, niece Melissa, ex-wife Heidi Smyser, extended family Kim Black (Robby Keown), Kristen (Ian) Jung, Mailah, Levi and Canon, along with so many close friends.
“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “holy smokes…what a ride!””
Ferg worked and played well and hard and did just that.
A paddle out to honor our dear friend will be Sept. 14, at PK’s, Lawa‘i Beach Road, starting at 10 a.m.
