MANA — Jackie Nakamura, piloting a 2010 Toyota Corolla, topped the NAPA Ladies Night special race at the Aug. 10 drag races presented by the Garden Isle Racing Association (GIRA) at Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
The lady Nakamura pumped the Toyota to 76.76 mph in a 17.48 elapsed time down the quarter-mile strip, edging out Tisha Remigio’s vehicle at 88.95 mph on a 15.86 ET.
Another Nakamura — Karl Nakamura — topped the Pro ET class when he moved his 1967 Chevy Nova to 130.06 mph on a 10.29 ET, and the class runner-up Lacin Montemayor broke out.
The GIRA will present a two-day Labor Day race series on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at Kaua‘i Raceway Park. The special night race event will feature the Labor Day Super Pro Shootout on Saturday and the Labor Day Wally Race on Sunday.
