LIHU‘E — The weekday closure of the Kapa‘a Bypass Road for rehabilitation started this week.
On Aug. 19, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) closed the temporary Kapa‘a Bypass Road (Route 560) between mile post 0 to 1.0 from Kuhio Highway to Olohena Road for repairs.
Repairs to the bypass include installation of a new roadway under drain system, including installation of new curbing, reconstruction of weakened pavement areas, new asphalt pavement and installation of new pavement markers.
The one-way southbound road will be closed Monday to Friday’s through Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. excluding holidays and weekends.
Motorist are advised to follow all signs and flaggers in the area, as traffic will be detoured to Lehua Street.
