Marvin Bargayo, of Lihu‘e, passed away on July 28, 2024, at the age of 75. He was born on Oct. 4, 1948, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a prep cook for a supporting food service.
He was preceded in death by parents Vicente and Gregoria Bargayo, mother Connie (George) Makaneole, brothers Caesar (Julie) Bargayo, Jesus (Sally) Bargayo, sister Fedelina (Patricio) Gongob and sister-in-law Carmen Bargayo.
He is survived by brothers Anito Bargayo, Tony (Lucy) Bargayo, Glen (Laurie) Makaneole, George (Lorri) Makaneole, sisters Cora Balocan, Gail (Cleve) Shigematsu, Gerlinda DeCosta, Naomi (Dennis) Cortez, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024. Visitation and service starts at 11 a.m. with Military Honors.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Louis Steven Niau, of Kalaheo, passed away on Aug. 11, 2024, in Lihu‘e at the age of 80. He was born on Jan. 23, 1944, in Hanapepe. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by son Lloyd Steven Niau, parents Louis and Lei Niau, brother David Niau and sister Wilma Mack.
He is survived by wife Patricia Ann Niau, son Floyd Steven Quon Po Niau (Eva) of Mililani, O‘ahu, daughters Celine Piilani Yau Chay Nelsen (Jeff Wong) of Kalihi, O‘ahu, Stevette Kuulei Kam Lin Santiago (Brad) of Kaneohe, O‘ahu, Lorilee “Lilinoe” Almarza (Donald) of Lihu‘e, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brother Michael Niau of Lawa‘i, sisters Momi Livingston of Waimea, Pearl Kelii of Nu‘uanu, O‘ahu, Gail Masuda of Makaweli, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Aug. 31, 2024, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of life. The family requests aloha attire and welcomes flowers.
