PRINCEVILLE — Community nonprofits on Kaua’i’s North Shore are invited to participate in “North Shore Give Week,” a weeklong collaboration to keep the Garden Island thriving.
North Shore Give (NSG) announced the weeklong community giving event that is not only aimed at raising funds, but will also shed light on the more than 30 nonprofits that serve Kaua‘i and its residents.
The eight day event will take place from September 20-28, and will feature a series of activities designed to engage and bring the community together, while bringing awareness and highlighting the fundamental roles nonprofits play in the community.
“This weeklong event promises a blend of entertainment, community service, and fundraising opportunities for all ages,” said Stefan Swanepoel, event organizer and president of North Shore Give.
The event is also the perfect opportunity for individuals and families who are interested in volunteering to come together and engage with other volunteers who share similar values and goals.
North Shore Give Week’s schedule of events is as follows:
• Free movie-in-the-park on Friday, Sept. 20.
Princeville at Hanalei Community Association and Princeville 2 Community Association will be playing “If” starring Ryan Reynolds at Princeville Park.
• North Shore Lions Club Project, Saturday, Sept. 21.
North Shore Lions Club along with volunteers will come together to build and repair benches at the Kaua‘i Christian Academy. Volunteers are still needed.
• Kickball Tournament, Sunday, Sept. 22.
Hosted by Hanalei Initiative, the Kickball Tournament will be played at the Wai’oli Town Park (Hanalei Soccer Fields). Funds collected will support Hanalei Initiative projects.
• Kilauea PTSA Field Trip, Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Reef Guardians will host a hands-on field trip at ‘Anini Beach. The field trip will include a lesson on marine conservation and the importance of protecting Kauai’s reef.
• Junk Car &Trash Removal, Thursday, Sept. 26.
‘Aina Alliance and NSG are collaborating to junk cars and remove trash in Anahola. Donations will pay for off-island vehicle removal. Volunteers are still needed.
• Ohana FitFest, Saturday, Sept. 28.
North Shore Give is kicking off its 11th annual FitFest 5K run/walk. The event will begin and end at the community expo at Princeville Park. To register visit, ohanafitfest.com
• Food Drive, Saturday, Sept. 28.
Kaua‘i North Shore Food Pantry (KNSFP) will conclude Give Week with a food drive. Funds will go directly to KNSFP to feed people in the community.
