ANAHOLA — The Hosea Lovell Foundation Ko‘olau Limu Project invites everyone to the first, free Ko‘olau Limu Festival on Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Anahola Beach Park.
With support from kaiaulu and Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i and numerous other community sponsors, the event is described as a family fun day, drug and alcohol free event with live musical entertainment, hula and Tahitian dance performances.
More importantly, the festival is an opportunity for people to discover the delectable tastes of limu.
Organizers said the Ko‘olau Limu Festival is a tribute to the traditional limu pickers of Anahola Village, the pae ‘aina o Hawai‘i, and the new generation of emerging limu stewards.
Attendees can enjoy cuisine at the Country Store and local food vendors. There will be stations where attendees can engage with conservation and educational organizations and initiatives.
Festivalgoers can also enjoy free screen printing and stamping, and create a Limu Lei with a ceremony to follow.
