Dora Kurasaki
September 18, 1926 — May 17, 2024
Dora Kurasaki, 97, died peacefully with her family at her side in Los Altos, California, on May 17, 2024. Mrs. Kurasaki was one of thirteen children born to Kanezo and Tsuru Uyematsu in Lihu‘e, Hawai‘i.
She is survived by sons Seth (Margaret), Howard, grandson Richard, sisters-in-law Sueko Galariada, Asako Murayama, many nieces and nephews.
Her husband Shiro and a son Kerry (Leslie) preceded her in death.
Service will be held at the Lihu‘e Christian Church in Lihu‘e, Hawai‘i, on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at 10 a.m.
Ronald Susumu Saiki
Ronald Susumu Saiki, 81, of San Francisco, California, passed away on April 23, 2024. He was born Sept. 15, 1942, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by his parents Satoru and Sakae Saiki and sister Corinne Saiki.
He is survived by his brother David (Toshiko) Saiki of Kapa‘a, niece Valerie Saiki and nephew Derek Saiki of Kapa‘a.
Private services will be held. Family graciously declines any Koden.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sally Gayagas
Sally Gayagas, of Kapa‘a, passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on Dec. 13, 1932. She was a retail sales clerk at Coco Palms Hotel and Hanalei Plantation Hotel.
She was preceded in death by husband Harry Gayagas Sr., sons Harry Gayagas Jr., Howard Gayagas, sister Elsie Laraba, and brother James Mariano.
She is survived by daughter Jaye Gayagas-Youn, son Boyd (Gaylene) Gayagas, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Parish in Kapa‘a. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Kapa‘a.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
