LIHU‘E — The roads in and around Lihu‘e are going to be littered with road-related projects this week, as the workload ramps up in the middle of summer, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
The following is a list of roadwork scheduled for the workweek ending Aug. 16. All work is weather permitting.
‘Ele‘ele
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in the westbound direction for sewer line crossing replacement, between mile post 15.90 to 16.20, in the vicinity of Waialo Road and Hanapepe Road, on Monday, Aug. 12, through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hanamaulu
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for striping, between mile post 1.06 and 2.57, in the vicinity of Laukini Street and Kapule Highway, through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Hanapepe
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for shoulder grading, between mile post 16.95 to 18.30, in the vicinity of Hanapepe Road and Kaumakani Road, on Monday, Aug. 12, through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kalaheo
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for roadway construction, between mile post 10.73 to 11.06, in the vicinity of Lauoho Road, through Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, in the vicinity of Kaumuali‘i Highway and Kauwai Street, on Wednesday, Aug. 14, through the morning of Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Kalihiwai
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for highway reconstruction, in the vicinity of Kahiliholo Road and Ka Haku Road, through Thursday Aug. 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kapa‘a
A single lane closure on Kapa‘a Bypass Road (Route 5600) is possible in the southbound direction for grass cutting, between mile post 0.76 to 1, on Monday, Aug. 12, in the vicinity of Olohena Road from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Road users are encouraged to use Kuhio Highway to access Olohena Street.
Koke‘e
A single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for road widening and paving, between mile post 11.5 and 14, through Friday, Aug. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Koloa
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for removal of a eucalyptus tree, between mile post 3.99 to 4.51, in the vicinity of Haiku Airstrip, on Monday, Aug. 12, through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 5.1 to 5.3, in the vicinity of Kahili Road, on Thursday, Aug. 15, through Friday, Aug. 16, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
