KAPA‘A — Mel Rapozo, emceeing the Po Afi FireKnife Competition on Saturday night, said Matapang Kasey Chau of EleEle Ola Afi from California was “really good.”
Chau finished the Saturday night competition earning top honors in the Senior Division-Wahine category, as well as taking the Heiva i Kaua‘i Showmanship specialty award.
The Po Afi Fireknife Competition was held before a large audience following the Saturday programming of the Heiva i Kaua‘i at Kapa‘a Beach Park, presented by the iSiva FireKnife crew that was part of the cultural exhibitors and demonstrations at Heiva i Kaua‘i.
Afeteli Evalu, of Siva Tau from Mau‘i, topped the Adult Division and continued on to take the County of Kaua‘i Mayor’s Award for securing the highest overall points from the field that attracted participants from the neighbor islands and as far away as Florida.
The iSiva FireKnife crew extended their appreciation for the efforts put forth by the many hands and hearts for making the event happen.
