Frecky Okada, all of 97 years young, was honored and thanked for her contributions to bon dance by the Kaua‘i bon dance drummers and dancers before the start of bon dance at the Waimea Shingon Mission on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024.

Kosei Imada, vacationing from the mainland, joined the Flying Saucer line at the Waimea Shingon bon dance on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. Imada is a judo enthusiast, whose father is sumo wrestler, Akinoshu, who reached the rank of komusubi.

Kudos and congratulations to Frecky Okada for all her efforts, contributions and energy for bon dancing on Kaua‘i. At 97 years young, Frecky received the honor from all the bon dance drummer and dancers on Saturday, the final bon dance of the Kaua‘i Buddhist Council calendar for 2024.
