KALAHEO — Lane and roadwork on Pu‘uwai Road and Po‘ohiwi Road has been extended until the end of August.
The Department of Water and its contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. (HDCCI) extended the intermittent lane closures for the Kalaheo Water Systems Improvement Project. The project will now run through Aug. 31, weather permitting.
Excavation work and waterline work continues to be conducted on Po‘ohiwi Road, and along portions of Pu‘uwai Road. Residents, pedestrians and motorists are advised to follow flaggers and posted signs at the following areas:
• Road closure on a portion of Pu‘uwai Road. A road closure is being implemented on Pu‘uwai Road from the intersection of Pu‘ulima Road to the end of Pu’uwai Road, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This portion of Pu‘uwai Road is an unpaved road, without residential or commercial dwellings, therefore, no vehicle or pedestrian access and no parking will be allowed in the work zone. Road closure signs and barriers will be posted.
• Local traffic only on Po‘ohiwi Road. Due to its narrow roadway, access will be granted to local traffic only on Po‘ohiwi Road during the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Additionally, the following road work schedule is currently in place for Po‘ohiwi Road and will continue until work is completed.

• Closed: 8 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. Open 8:50 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Closed: 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. Open 9:50 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• Closed: 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Open 10:50 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Closed: 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Open 11:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Closed: 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. Open 1:20 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• Closed: 1:30 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. Open 2:20 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Closed from 2:30 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. Open from 3:20 p.m. until the next business day.
This notice may be extended due to weather and as project needs and schedule updates arise.
