Isaiah Dosono knew how to set up the morning shift for Kaua‘i Kim Chee at the Grove Farm Market, where Ferdinand Dosono was late because he was “running errands.” Isaiah set up the grill so the arts and craft component vendors and shoppers — Lickety Louie is getting ready for this week’s Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market on Saturday along with Elena and her Gourmet Hawaiian Pretzels — could see through (and smell the aromatic cookings) to the market where the Master Gardeners hosted people from the University of Hawai‘i College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (wow! They’ll probably be participating with the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau in the Aug. 17 — Do we have football on that day? —“Tribute to the Kaua‘i Farm Fair” at the Kukui Grove Center).

Following the morning market, Isaiah took part of the morning shift (nope, Ferdinand got to have a break) to set up their pizza wagon at the Kapa‘a Business Association First Saturday (no wonder Tiffany Lum — malasadas, tarts, and what else? — and her veggie starters were a no show at the Grove Farm Market) where Kumu Wailana Dasalia-Duarte and the Tamatea Nui o Kaua‘i halau treated First Saturday attendees a Polynesian treat (they even showed off their Mokihana Festival competitors — Mokihana Festival is coming up the last week of September according to Kumu Maka Herrod!
Isaiah (they were set up next to the Savage guys who were prepping for the Christmas toy giveaway) sold out before their planned time … good reason to check out the movie and outdoor games being hosted by the Snack Shop down across Pono Kai.
