Michael Sheehan Kocher
Michael Sheehan Kocher, of Hanapepe, passed away on July 20, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born on April 30, 1957, on Kaua‘i. He was a fisherman.
He was preceded in death by father Albert Kocher, son Michael Kocher Jr. and sister Melissa Kocher O’Connor.
He is survived by wife Patricia Kocher, son Logan Ikaika Ka‘aihue, daughter Irene (Keith Smith) Kocher, mother Helen Marie “H.M.” Kocher, brother John “Jed” Kocher, sister Deborah “Debby” Kocher Smith and granddaughter Aimee Marie Smith.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at Salt Pond Beach in Hanapepe starting at 6 p.m.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

Janel M. Ruiz, of Koloa, passed away on June 28, 2024, on O‘ahu at the age of 54. She was born on June 1, 1970, on O‘ahu. She was a cashier at Hardware Hawai‘i.
She was preceded in death by father Lloyd Hamamura, paternal grandparents Masaru Hamamura, Lorraine Yahiku, maternal grandparents Yasuo Furumori, Eloise Thompson and father-in-law Damascio Ruiz, Jr.
She is survived by husband Ross A. Ruiz, son Keli‘i Ruiz of O‘ahu, daughter Ranel Ruiz of Las Vegas, Nevada, three grandchildren, parents Waynetta (Larry) Nakama, Estelle Hamamura, brother Jaxon Hamamura of Kaua‘i, sister Jolene Simmons of O‘ahu, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa]i. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
