LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD) experienced issues with their nonemergency dispatch line prompting ‘back up’ lines to open on Kaua‘i.
On the evening of Tuesday, July, 30 KPD sent out a press release informing people that its island-wide non-emergency dispatch line 808-241-1711 was experiencing a disruption due to internal system upgrades.
The disruption prompted KPD officials to release two alternative nonemergency dispatch lines to avoid any further disruptions. The public was directed to use nonemergency dispatch line 808-755-8516 and line 808-625-7838, while IT officials worked on the upgrades through the night.
Kaua‘i’s 911 emergency service line also experienced a disruption. However, it was immediately restored.
On Wednesday, July 31, KPD provided an update announcing that their usual dispatch line 808-241-1711 was once again operational after IT completion of its internal upgrades.
