LIHU‘E — Boone Clifton marked a historic day at Puakea Golf Course on Sunday.
Not only did she card her first-ever hole in one on the Puakea No. 16 hole, she did it while participating in the Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association Mitchel Ota Tournament.
“Boone Clifton made her first-ever hole in one on the Par 3, 16th hole at Puakea. Boone plays in the girls 9 to 10 year old division where the hole played 47 yards,” said Paul Ito, the KJGA director.
“The pin location required the 9 to 10 year old girls to carry the bunker in the front of the green to get the ball close to the hole. Boone did one better than close. She grabbed her 56-degree sand wedge, took dead aim and went ahead and dunked it!”
KJGA members next have the option of participating in the two-day Hawai‘i State Golf Association Po‘ipu Bay Junior Classic on Aug. 10-11 at Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course.
