LIHU‘E — The Live Poets’ Society Pau Hana “Magical Myths &Legends” will close the Lihu‘e Public Library summer reading program on July 31 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
“Remember when tales of fantastic beasts, wizards and gremlins with even more fantastic powers beguiled you, when heroes and fearless queens, chariots and storms came to the rescue?” said Dawn Kawahara, founder and facilitator of the Live Poets’ Society.
“Or, maybe what captured you were the characters of ‘Treasure Island,’ ‘Moby Dick,’ and Paul Bunyan, Maui and Pele, or renaissance tales of knights and beautiful maidens. Or, the Peach Boy? Or Dracula?”
Kawahara said these tales of great impact may have stayed within your memory through a lifetime.
The Magical Myths &Legends is suited for audiences of all ages, and is free and open to everyone.
Kawahara is planning to take everyone back to the days when legends of heroes and heroines, gods and goddesses, heroic quests throughout the world’s cultures fired one’s imagination before Walt Disney.
She invites every person who attends Magical Myths &Legends to think of a personal favorite myth or legend, and perhaps revisit the tale.
