Has Kaua‘i ever fielded a World Series championship team?
Congratulations to the Kaua‘i Protect Our Nation’s Youth Bronco All-Stars (12 and Under) that won their Zone games, and are now heading to Laredo, Texas, to participate in the PONY World Series games … mahalo, Ashley Yoshimori for the heads-up.
During the Koloa Plantation Days Storytelling with Lopaka Kapanui (how about the saga about not having pork in the car when driving through the Tree Tunnel at midnight?), Pilare Mukai of The Shops at Kuku‘iula said the “good kine” arare is back in stock at Costco. Kudos to Stacie Chiba-Miguel (mom volunteered the family to help the Waimea Shingon Mission bon dance) and Mike Hubbard (he was everywhere, helping the staff with S’mores, popcorn, and drinks) on a great event.
The Shops will also host the Koloa Plantation Days Chef’s Demonstration on Wednesday with Leong’s Market &Grill, which will be joining other restaurants on Friday when Wally Rita y Los Kauaianos turn the Flavors of Kukui‘ula into a birthday bash for Wally Rita.
The Koloa Plantation Days comes to a head on Saturday with the 38th annual Parade that will affect motorists going in and out of Koloa, as well as riders of The Kaua‘i Bus.
In the meantime, don’t forget to check out the Agency on Elderly Affairs’ Disaster Preparedness and Wellness Fair on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lihu‘e Civic Center, the same place as the home of Doug’s Dugout and ginger lemonade.
