KOLOA — A California woman died hours after being pulled from the water in Hanaka‘ape Bay on Friday morning.
The Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD) said first responders were dispatched to Hanakaape Bay, also known as Koloa Landing, for an unresponsive swimmer at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Friday.
“Bystanders administered CPR until medics arrived and took over advanced resuscitation efforts,” the KPD said. “The victim was transported to the Wilcox Memorial Hospital (in Lihu‘e) and pronounced dead later Friday evening.
The victim has been identified as a 56-year-old female visitor from California. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
