LIHU‘E — Ballot packets for the 2024 Primary Election were mailed on Wednesday, July 17, and the county’s Office of the County Clerk said voters should have either gotten their packets, or should be getting them, shortly.
The ballot packets were mailed to active voters. Voters, who have moved and not updated their voter registration information, are advised that voter registration must be updated before they can participate in this election.
For people that receive a ballot for someone who is no longer at the address, please write, “NOT AT THIS ADDRESS,” and place it back in the U.S. Postal Service mail. The returned ballot packet will be used to flag the corresponding voter registration record and help identify outdated records in the voter file.
Ballot drop boxes were installed at various locations starting last Thursday. Ballot boxes should be available at the Koloa Neighborhood Center, the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, the Hanapepe Neighborhood Center and the Waimea Neighborhood Center on the westside.
Ballot drop boxes for the central and eastside are located at the Hanalei Neighborhood Center, the Church of the Pacific, the Aloha Petroleum Menehune Food Mart, the Kapa‘a Public Library and in front of the Elections Division office adjacent to the historic County Building.
Voters may deposit their completed ballots 24/7 until 7 p.m. on Primary Election Day, Aug. 10. According to the Office of the County Clerk, ballots must be received — not postmarked — by 7 p.m. on Aug. 10.
For voters seeking more help, including candidate profiles for the various offices in their district, there is a voting link at https://olvr.hawaii.gov/altballotsearch3.aspx that provides candidate information for a specified voter address.
An in-person voter service center will be opened as Aug. 10 draws nearer. For more information, contact the Office of the County Clerk, Election Division at 808-241-4800.
