Ota, Bobby Bater and Kawaihau Community Little League President Shan Higashi on hosting the State 9 through 11 tournament (Aiea just beat Kaneohe in a 14-13 extra inning affair to advance in the not-winning bracket to meet host Kawaihau — they lost 11-0 to undefeated Hilo in their Saturday opener to face Aiea on Sunday) … Championship game scheduled for Tuesday when first pitch goes off at 9 a.m. at the Main Diamond located inside Bryan J. Baptiste SportsComplex.

Placido Valenciano (he was at the Lihu‘e Hongwanji bon dance where Mahina Puu was happy and thrilled to get fellow rodeo buddies Ciarra Arzaga and Lilly Nunn geared up in bon dance attire and wrangle the rows-deep dancers) said Kaua‘i Interscholastic Football is around the corner with the first on-island (Waimea playing nationally-ranked Kahuku in an off-island preseason contest?) preseason games scheduled for Aug. 16 weekend.
Padric Gallagher (when and where is the Full Moon bike ride since there is the fire in Koke‘e that, according to county officials is 85 percent contained?) was at the bon dance and able to get through the Saturday morning briefing at the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency operations center to make the Wilcox Health Keiki Bike and Skateboard Safety Day where Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami launched the county’s Vision Zero campaign to reduce traffic deaths to zero by 2040.
Arryl Kaneshiro, (Ross Kagawa and anyone else running for County Council) was at the Lihu‘e bon dance and said we need to check out the Koloa Plantation Days that started on Friday and continues through next Sunday morning … excellent program guide at www.koloaplantationdays.com.
