Update: Brush fire breaks out off Koke‘e Road, KIUC de-energizes Koke‘e circuit, 40 percent containment

A brush fire in Koke‘e was 40 percent contained as of 5:45 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, the County of Kaua‘i Fire Department said in an incident update. The fire, which started on Thursday, prompted Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative to de-energize the Koke‘e circuit. The move impacted more than 100 customers. The fire also forced the closure of multiple roads. Ground crews were expected to battle the brush fire overnight.
