LIHU‘E — Preregistration for the annual Wilcox Heath Keiki Bike and Skateboard Safety Day is being accepted online by visiting www.WilcoxHealth.org/BikeSafety.
Preregistration aids Wilcox Health organizers in planning for the number of safety helmets that will be fitted and given away at no cost during the Keiki Bike and Skateboard Safety Day on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
There is a limited supply of helmets available to the safety day participants.
“It’s better to get fitted for a helmet for free,” said Mark Walsh, one of the scheduled presenters along with Tommy Noyes of Bikes on Rice. “Do it now, rather than wait until they need to see a doctor.”
In addition to the helmet fitting station, participants to the event that will be held in the Kaua‘i Medical Center’s back parking lot, past Same Day Surgery, keiki will get to experience a hands-on bike skills enhancement courses manned with volunteers.
A similar station manned by local, well-known skaters will be available for aspiring skateboard riders.
Participants will also receive a passport to fill up at the various exhibits and inter-active stations peppering the bike and skateboard stations. Completed passports are eligible for drawings of free bikes, courtesy of donations from community sponsors.
