HANAPEPE — A brush fire in Kaumakani and Hanapepe, which burned approximately 1,100 acres on Monday, was 100 percent contained, the Kaua‘i Fire Department said.
HANAPEPE — A brush fire in Kaumakani and Hanapepe, which burned approximately 1,100 acres on Monday, was 100 percent contained, the Kaua‘i Fire Department said.
The brush fire destroyed one structure in Kaumakani Camp. No injuries were reported, as a result of the blaze.
An evacuation notice for Kaumakani residents has been lifted. A water conservation notice was also lifted for Hanapepe, Kekaha and Waimea customers at approximately 6 a.m. on Tuesday, the Department of Water said.
The brush fire was reported shortly before noon on Monday.
Firefighters with the Hanapepe, Kalaheo and Waimea fire stations responded to the scene, as well Tanker 1, Tanker 2, Air 1, Air 2 and the Department of Public Works. Gay and Robinson also responded with a water tanker, while a private contractor brought in a bulldozer to assist.
