Magdalena Guerrero Balbin
Magdalena Guerrero Balbin, 89, of Kapa‘a, passed away at home on June 21, 2024. She was born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Nov. 2, 1934, and retired as a kitchen helper.
Preceded in death by her husband Venancio Balbin, parents Balbino and Theodora Guerrero, sons Juan Balbin, Juanito Balbin, Juancho Balbin and sister Monica Ramones.
She survived by her children Evelyn (Juan Jr.-dec.) Sales, Everlina (Willie) Manibog, Evangeline (Francisco) Perez, Samuel (Dina) Balbin, Estela (Reynaldo) Bagara, Estelita (William Galutera) Balbin, Estrella (John) Anderson, Maria Magdalena (Edward) Acob, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters Victoria Guerrero Lovena, Crecensia Guerrero Malana’ brother, Jaime Guerrero, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services and burial will take place in the Philippines.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Ann ‘Pauline’ Ornellas Fernandes
Mary Ann “Pauline” Ornellas Fernandes passed away on May 23, 2024, in Kapa‘a at the age of 94. She was born on Aug. 25, 1929, in Lihu‘e.
She was preceded in death by husband John B. Fernandes Jr. and daughter Caleen Kubota.
She is survived by sons Robbie John Fernandes, Lawrence (Wallis) Fernandes, daughters Annette (Alan) Hashimoto, Stacie (Ismael) Cantu, Anita Fernandes, sisters Theresa Martins, Katherine Ornellas, Eva Hieronymus, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Kapa‘a. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. The family requests conservative casual attire and graciously declines flowers.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
