HANALEI — The Namolokama O‘ Hanalei Canoe Club announced that preregistration for the annual Hanalei Bay Swim Challenge is open online at https://flpregister.com/en/679.
The advantage of preregistration is to capitalize on the early registration discounts, which include $15 for children and keiki, and $50 for adults. Registration is also available on race day — July 27. However, registration fees increase after July 20.
“We couldn’t hold this event without the incredible support we receive from our Kaua‘i community,” said Hobey Beck, president of Namolokama O’Hanalei Canoe Club.
“We use the proceeds from the Hanalei Bay Swim, and from our generous sponsors to purchase much-needed equipment for our club and to support our keiki program.”
Namolokama O’Hanalei will host the Hanalei Bay Swim Challenge on July 27 at Hanalei Bay for the 15th year.
“We are happy to be hosting this family-friendly event again,” said Pam Murphy, race director for the Hanalei Bay Swim Challenge.
“Our swimmers come from Kaua‘i, all the other islands, and all over the world to swim in this open water event. Last year, we had swimmers from 4 years old to 79 years young. It is such a fun day, there is nothing like watching families and friends swim together.”
The Hanalei Bay Swim Challenge includes events for everyone. There are 1,000- and 3,000-meter distance swims for all ages, a 1,000-meter mask and fin (no snorkels), and a snorkel division, and the “Pier Swim” for keiki 8 years and under, and ages 9 to 12 years.
According to information on the preregistration link the Hanalei Bay Swim Challenge gets underway at 7 a.m. with race check-in and race day registration.
“Hanalei Bay is the perfect venue for this event during the summer,” Murphy said. “The warm, gentle waters and sandy bottom are perfect for swimmers of all ages and abilities.”
Namolokama O’Hanalei Canoe Club is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3). The Hanalei Bay Swim Challenge is the group’s signature fundraiser.
