HONOLULU — The Kapa‘a High School cheer squad, current Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions, fared well during its participation at the USA Cheer Camp that was held from July 5 through July 7 at ‘Iolani Schools on O‘ahu.
The Warriors cheer squad was invited to participate in the camp led by lead instructors Dahlston Delgado and Conner Huber of Netflix’s hit series “Cheer.” Delgado also choreographs cheer championship teams, such as Navarro and Texas Tech.
According to Kapa‘a cheer coach Rosey Jerves, the Warriors were fortunate to have Aliyah Clark of Navarro and Texas Tech as a mentor during the three-day camp.
Overall, Kapa‘a finished with the camp’s top Game Day Superior award, as well as being recognized as the Hardest Working Squad in attendance.
Lilinoe Jerves, Kassy Ell and Sonya Ell were selected and awarded the All American Award from the field of 30 participating athletes.
“They have earned the opportunity to travel abroad to Europe and represent the USA through cheer,” Jerves said.
Kapa‘a Cheer made it to the finals for their group stunt executions, and Warrior Cheer team members Keilani Pia Salvador and Kassy Ell were selected as pin recipients. The pin recipients were selected by USA Cheer staff, as well as their peers from other participating schools as standouts.
