PO‘IPU — The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau invite everyone to the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i will open for Ho‘ohanohano Mo‘omeheu, or Honoring Our Hawaiian Culture which is described by organizers as “a unique and enriching experience to perpetuate our Hawaiian culture.”
The special events held in collaboration with the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i are designed for both residents and visitors to enjoy and celebrate the rich Hawaiian culture of Kaua‘i.
Included in the day’s program is a lineup of local entertainment, cultural workshops (need to be preregistered to participate) and island shopping featuring several Kaua‘i Made vendors among the offering of local crafters and vendors.
Local musicians and halau, both hula and Polynesia dance, form the core of the “Local Entertainment” lineup that will grace the event throughout the experience.
Cultural workshops are limited to 10 participants on a first-come, first-served basis for a two-hour workshop session.
Preregistration is required; there is a cost for materials for each workshop.
Some of the workshops being offered include block printing using native flowers and fauna designs, coconut frond weaving, lei hulu, or feather lei, Haku La‘i, Ni‘ihau shell earrings and Lauhala weaving that includes a make-and-take fan.
