LIHU‘E — Kapa‘a High School softball, the reigning state Division II champions, garnered the most spots on the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation (KIF) Softball All-Star team, which was announced on Monday.
LIHU‘E — Kapa‘a High School softball, the reigning state Division II champions, garnered the most spots on the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation (KIF) Softball All-Star team, which was announced on Monday.
Kapa‘a senior Rhea Furtado, who was named to the state Division II All-Tournament Team as Most Outstanding Player, was announced as the KIF Player of the Year. Rounding out the KIF All-Star list for Kapa‘a were Sienna Yamashita, Hailey Gibson, Charlize Kenney, Karlee Keale and Ashlyn Souza.
Waimea High School placed three players on the KIF All-Star team — Leici-Mae Camara, Tavina Harris and Kaelyn Banquel.
Kaua‘i’s catcher Mia Marty was the sole Red Raider named to the KIF All-Star team.
Coach of the Year honors belonged to Blair Yamashita, who captained the Lady Warriors to an undefeated season. That included the state Division II championship series, where the Warriors earned the top seed and clinched the state crown with a 13-1 win over No. 2 seeded PAC-5.
