Steven Domingo (he and Chris Faye were celebrating the first bon dance of the Kaua‘i Buddhist Council calendar last weekend) is getting excited about the Kaua‘i Filipino Community Council/Miss Kaua‘i Filipina Pageant Folk Dancers participating in the King’s Parade on Saturday with reigning Miss Kaua‘i Filipina (she’s home from college) Victoria Perreira and this year’s scholarship pageant hopefuls. The parade starts at 9 a.m. from Ho‘olako Road (traffic advisories, including the closure of Rice Street will be in effect for all those people who need to get to work) to the historic County Building.

Kudos to Bev Brody, Tommy Noyes, Kima Hardy (it was the first Better Block project off O‘ahu!) and the volunteers who spiffied up Kalena Park on Saturday before Lexi Jones opened up the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market.
And more kudos to Tamara Lawrence and Britnee Akau for opening the Little Babes Club indoor play area with a surprise visit by Baby Shark at Kukui Grove Center where artist Amanda Kaufmann was doing a hands-on World Ocean Day family activity.
Finally, welcome USAF Capt. Ian McEwen and the 200 military reservists of Tropic Care Kaua‘i, who will open their clinics for no-cost health care services starting Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the U.S. Defense Innovative Readiness Training program … The Kaua‘i Bus is also no cost between July 13 through 20.
And, are the fish biting? The Garden Island Trollers and the Nawiliwili Yacht Club are hosting Father’s Day fishing tournaments this weekend … Happy Father’s Day to all!
