Happy World Ocean Day!
Kudos to Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort general manager Julian Cable Treadwell, Jaye Youn, Barbara Gusman and all the resort ‘ohana on hosting all those travel advisors (from Boston to California) from the Apple Leisure Group for a tour that included participation in a beach cleanup (the Sheraton ‘ohana does this once a month), and Yappy Hour (even Public Affairs Officer Lisa Fernandez of the Pacific Missile Range facility got involved with this ahead of the base’s public scoping meeting) … Do the travel advisors get to bring home the microplastics screening buckets?
Travel advisor Kadee Grimm of Washington state was not even aware it was World Ocean Day (gotta take care of the ocean to get Poke Fest), and Sheraton guest Danielle Church of California could not help but get swept up in the excitement … Jerry Refamonte already installed a couple of disc golf baskets toward the eventual course set up beachside of the resort.
Kudos, Chief Todd Raybuck and the Kaua‘i Police Department on the graduation of the 100th Recruit Class that shared the Kaua‘i Veterans Center (flag retirement coming up, soon) with the East Kaua‘i Lions Club that celebrated the 86th anniversary of its Charter that was signed in 1938 … what? Lion Roy Nishida is one of the oldest Lions, and Basilio “Coach Bunga” Fuertes (the hekka could’ve used some negi) was talking to Councilwoman Felicia Cowden about a future project.
OK, so don’t forget … today is also Kaua‘i Comic Con at the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort. Doors open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with Aaron Yamasato … are we doing the holidays at the Royal Sonesta, again? … and his guests (anyone remember Kikaida from after-school television?).
