LIHUE — Get ready for multiple road closures on the westside and eastside of Kauai next week.
The Department of Public Works (DPW) announced that road closures have been scheduled and will begin on Monday, June 10. The closures are necessary for the installation of a waterline on the westside and for guardrail repairs and installation on the eastside.
DPW and it’s contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, will close a portion of Kikala Road in Kalaheo on the westside from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on June 10-30.
The road closure is needed for waterline installation work. However, to reduce the length of the closure periods, road closures will occur every 50 minutes.
DPW and its contractor GP Roadway Solutions have also scheduled the closure of portions of Olehena Road, Kamalu Road and Anahola Road on the eastside from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on June 10-14. The road closure are necessary for guardrail and installation work.
Scheduling is as follows:
Monday, June 10: Olohena Road between Lehua Street and Kukui Street.
Wednesday, June 12: Kamalu Road at the ‘Opaeka‘a Road intersection.
Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14: Anahola Road near the intersection at Kuhio Highway.
All work is weather permitting. DPW reminds motorist to be mindful and exercise caution when driving and obey all flaggers and posted signs.
