WAIPOULI — Yappy Hour, a partnership between Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort and Kaua‘i Humane Society, was filled with excitement on Thursday, as the event drew a group of visiting travel advisors from the Apple Leisure Group and guests staying at the Waipouli property.
Kaua‘i Humane Society (KHS) staff and volunteers provided guests with information and a chance to meet its team of adoptable pets who visited the resort. According to Sheraton Coconut Beach personnel, visitors wanting to adopt an animal to bring back home would have to go to the humane society to make arrangements for the pet to go home with them.
The Kaua‘i Humane Society was also excited to announce that it is partnering with the Department of Defense’s Innovative Readiness Training for Tropic Care 2024, which starts on June 12.
This year, for the first time, Tropic Care Kaua‘i will include veterinary services for Kaua‘i pet owners from June 12-21 at the Kaua‘i Humane Society facility located in Kipu.
Tropic Care, a community event supported by Kaua‘i County with free Kaua‘i Bus during the duration of its stay on the island, offers free dental, vision and medical care. This year, Tropic Care’s sixth visit to the island, marks the first mission with veterinary care.
As part of this initiative, the Kaua‘i Humane Society will host an Army veterinarian and technician, who will provide free spay and neuter surgeries to the public. KHS will supply the necessary medical resources and facilities to support these services, ensuring that pets in the community receive essential care at no cost.
Pet owners can sign up their pets for these free services by visiting https://khsappointments.squarespace.com/snclinic-1 or https://kauaihumane.org/service/veterinary-services/.
