Tamara Braun of The Princeville Wine Shop, a friend of Will Lydgate and Lydgate Farms, had to show off the granddaddy of cacao beans when Will Lydgate hosted a pop-up of the Lydgate Farms tasting room and store during First Saturday hosted by the Kapa‘a Business Association … Neill Sams of Orchid Alley has a whole mess of orchids (even new varieties) in full bloom following the Mother’s Day rush.
The Mokihana Club (kudos on a great inaugural Wine and Cheese event as a fundraiser for its nursing scholarships!) brought out a whole slew of new home baked goodies (even had the plantation days dish towels) to the craft fair component of the Grove Farm Market, and extended its reach with the food tray visits like those fundraising soccer teams (Go, Wailua Homesteads U8 soccer, who had poi mochi balls and deep-fried Oreo at First Saturday!), and Stan’s Hawaiian Style Flying Saucers going back to its roots of fundraising for baseball team trips.
Even Greg Askew (and Candace Boxer) went back to the roots (who had the kava?), as he filled in at the Hawaiian Popsicle tent (Pride Popsicle?) at the festival following the Pride Parade.
OK, this is World Oceans Day … whole bunch of stuff coming up on Saturday to celebrate the healthy ocean …can’t have Poke Fest without healthy oceans.
