Coach Basilio “Bunga” Fuertes and Carmela Udarbe offer shoppers a variety of onions and tongarashi, or chili peppa’ plants, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, while demonstrating and talking story with the Master Gardeners during Grove Farm Market at the Puhi park open field.

Tongarashi (haven’t heard that term since grandma-granda days!), Saimin Onion, mature onion. Basilio “Coach Bunga” Fuertes (and he brought Carmela Udarbe, too!) had it all on Saturday when he joined the Master Gardeners (is this the University of Hawai‘i?) at Grove Farm Market where despite the distraction of the Pride Parade, ga-a-a, no parking!
