Kudos and congratulations to Carol Yotsuda, Shannon Hiramoto and Kat Ho on hosting a great three-day pop-up that served to showcase 43 years of the Garden Island Arts Council, as well as a fundraising effort for “Ka Pae ‘Aina O Hawai‘i Nei” Hawaiian Archipelegop Mosaic Program. The event was a throwback to grandma days when the workshops that sprouted from the sewing circle were connected when one of the Boroboro Boutique volunteers said a piece of fabric can be used at least five times before it becomes so soft it’s not usable.

Mahalo, Stephen Fujii of the Kaua‘i Bonsai Club, for allowing the privilege of watching bonsai sensei Tohru Suzuki create a bonsai from nursery stock.
OK, so after all the craziness of the Pride Parade and the Grove Farm Market with its crafters, there’s always the concert by the Chicago musicians (composer Robert Pollack said they even brought their twins for this trip) at the Saint Michael’s and All Angels church in the evening.
And, don’t forget the Rotary Club of Kapa‘a’s 32nd Taste of Hawai‘i fundraiser that helps the club with its scholarship awards, and numerous other service projects (remember when they were building Rescue Tubes in Kilauea?) … parking is at Vidinha Stadium (for early-goers, check out the Treasures event at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center … Debbie Yanagihara will be working while everyone else is enjoying the Taste).
