Boroboro Boutique leaders Carol Yotsuda, Shannon Hiramoto, and Kat Ho engage in lunchtime conversation on Saturday, May 25, 2024, when the Boroboro Boutique opened its 3-day pop-up at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery at Kukui Grove.

Tohru Suzuki, a third generation owner of Daiju-En Bonsai Nursery in Okazaki City, Nagoya, Japan, and a worldwide source of knowledge in bonsai, looks over a nursery stock to create a bonsai on Sunday, May 26, 2024, for the Kaua‘i Bonsai Club at the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center.

Kudos and congratulations to Carol Yotsuda, Shannon Hiramoto and Kat Ho on hosting a great three-day pop-up that served to showcase 43 years of the Garden Island Arts Council, as well as a fundraising effort for “Ka Pae ‘Aina O Hawai‘i Nei” Hawaiian Archipelegop Mosaic Program. The event was a throwback to grandma days when the workshops that sprouted from the sewing circle were connected when one of the Boroboro Boutique volunteers said a piece of fabric can be used at least five times before it becomes so soft it’s not usable.
