WAILUA — The Kaua‘i Songwriters Music Festival (and concert), which is coming to the Hilton Garden Inn during the weekend of June 7-8, will feature workshops and a concert on June 8 that is open to the public.
With funding by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority through its Community Enrichment Program, the County of Kaua‘i and the state Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the event is getting help from the Hilton Garden Inn and Arts Kaua‘i. The lineup of presenters and performers include Jason Blume, Emily Elbert, Ken Emerson, Rock Hendricks, Allan Thomas, and Randy Tico.
Blume is the author of “6 Steps to Songwriting Success,” “This Business of Songwriting” and “Inside Songwriting” by Billboard Books. His songs have been recorded by Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, the Oak Ridge Boys and numerous other artists, selling more than 50,000,000 copies.
His song, “Come Back” was the debut single for Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning group “Crossing Rain.”
A guest lecturer at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, which was co-founded by Sir Paul McCartney, and at the Berklee School of Music, Blume teaches the BMI songwriter workshops.
“We will have workshops, songwriting critique circles, and one-on-one conferences for songwriters on both days, and a concert on Saturday that is open to the public,” said Terry Low, the president of Arts Kaua‘i.”Because of the caliber of our performers and presenters, this could be a sold-out event.”
